It's a fact: Serving and Storage Tips

Serving Tips

  • Remove the ice cream from the freezer 5-10 minutes before serving, allowing the ice cream to soften before eating improves the flavour.
  • Warm the knife or ice cream scoop under a hot tap before cutting or scooping ice cream, this will give a perfectly smooth scoop or slice.
  • Sundae glasses, which can be picked up from any kitchen shop, make even the simplest ice cream dessert look special enough for a dinner party.

Storage Tips
  • Ice cream should be stored as cold as possible, always below -18°C.
  • Ice cream should be stored at the back of the freezer to protect it as much as possible from changes in temperature. Temperature fluctuations caused by opening and closing the freezer cause large ice crystals to grow in the ice cream; this damages the quality of the ice cream.
  • Ice cream packs or tubs should be sealed as well as possible to protect the ice cream while in the freezer, this prevents the ice cream drying out or growing ice crystals on the surface.
  • Ice Cream should not be stored longer than a couple of months in a home freezer, it does not go off, but the quality will deteriorate.
  • Never refreeze ice cream when it has thawed.
